The Webster Family
De La Fayette Webster and his
brother, Aaron, were born in New
York State, moved to Lorain County,
Ohio with their parents and came to
South Bass Island about 1862. They
were stone masons and their first
lime kiln was on East Point where
the Yachtsmens Club was later
built. The family built several
stone and grout houses, and lived
on South & Middle Bass.
Descendants of this family still
live in the islands.
