The Vroman – Sullivan Families
Genealogy
 Nancy
Becker Vroman Sullivan is the
beginning of the following genealogy
because her two marriages encompass
two large island families. Family
legend states that her husband John
Vroman was a peddler who sold goods
from a horse-drawn wagon in New York
State. He never returned from one of
his trips.
Her son, Philip Vroman, was the first permanent settler in
the islands. He worked for the
Edwards family and later de Rivera
and eventually bought land.
This large family located on both South Bass and North Bass
Islands. Descendants of the Vroman
and Sullivan families still reside
in the Lake Erie Islands today.
