John Sandersen Family

John Sandersen was born on the Island of Fohr off the coast of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. His wife, Sarah “Jennie” Gorey Sandersen, was the daughter of John and Eliza Jane (Davelin) Gorey of Sandusky.
John & Jennie had a large farm on North Bass Island. John Sandersen also fished and was an island blacksmith. This family has genealogical ties to the McCormick-Hooper families of Pelee Island.
Descendants still live in the Erie and Ottawa Co., Ohio areas. Thanks to Mary Williams Rowland who supplied the family history and along with her Sandersen cousins, visited her beloved island during the L.E.I.H.S. North Bass Tour of 2005.
