The Rehberg Family of Middle Bass

The Rehberg Family of Mecklenburg came to the United States between 1849 and 1853. In 1859, “Count” William Rehberg (1825-1899), along with three other investors: Caldwell, Wehrle and Mueller, bought Middle Bass from Jose de Rivera. Descendants of this large family still live on Middle Bass and South Bass Islands today.
